Taking Pictures in an Empty Train Station

I’d like you to meet Tera + Justin.

They’re on their way to South Africa to be missionaries with YWAM {Youth With A Mission}.  And they leave in a few months on this great adventure.

I’ve known Tera since she was 2 and I was 12. Both of our parents worked at a children’s home, and her older sister and I became fast friends.  I remember always being annoyed that Amy’s little sister always wanted to play with us!  And here she is, all grown up, married, serving the Lord, and following Him!

We did a little photo shoot at the Lancaster Train Station a few weeks ago, and I was very surprised that it was practically empty!

But here’s the shots we did get!

{Did you notice the gorgeous make-up job on Tera?  My friend Jess did that!  She’s in business as a Make-Up Artist. She’s good.  I’ll show you pics of her in action tomorrow!}

Flashback Friday

Remember back in the 80s and early 90s, when you had a pink walkman?  I loved my pink walkman. I’d put on my roller skates, insert my most recent Radio Mix Tape, go outside and skate.

You remember Mixed Tapes, right?  Many an afternoon when I should have been doing my homework, I was listening to the local rock station on the radio.  The station that was banned in our house.  I put in a blank cassette tape and readied my finger over the Record button.  I was determined NOT to miss the beginning of the Next Cool Song.  Once the song was over, I was determined NOT to record the DJs as they announced the name of the song and talked about the weather.

After a few afternoons, I’d have Side A and Side B filled with Totally Awesome Songs.

I was thinking of this recently when I opened a package from my Love.  He found these Totally Awesome iPhone Cases on Amazon.

I debated for a few days what I was going to put on the Cassette Tape.  Ace of Base?  Bon Jovi?  The Go-Go’s?  I had MANY MANY options as I perused my iTunes music.

But I made a decision. I remembered the above Pink Walkman, and my attempt to make The Perfect Radio Mix Tape …

Now I just have to think of a Totally Awesome Ring Tone for my Totally Awesome Cassette Tape iPhone Case…  Any ideas?

If you want to go really retro, you should go for the original phone ringing sound! You know….ring-ring? Lol!

An Unorganized Hodge Podge

I consider myself a fairly orderly person.  I like to group like things together.  You remember on Sesame Street where “one of these things is not like the other”?  I always aced that game.  So I’m quite surprised that I’m going to press the “publish” button on this post.  In today’s Photo Mix there are b&w with color, family pics with strangers, people with cityscapes …  It is a hodgepodge of everything!

Don’t get me wrong.  I enjoy a good Hodge Podge.  But one that has some semblance of order.

So here’s a heads up – this one does not have any order to it.

Pretty People in NYC

My friend Janelle and I took the train to NYC last month to meet up with her friend from Australia.  While there, we also met up with her friend who works in the City.  The prior was planned, the latter was planned on the train.  We like to fly by the seat of our pants, per se.  It’s how we roll.

The day started off a bit dreary, but we didn’t mind.  We were in NYC!  We met up with Janelle’s friend, Lonnie at Hundred Acres Cafe in SoHo.  It was the quintessential dining experience – the food was a-mazing, the atmosphere was a-mazing and our company was a-mazing.:)

Here are a few pics of Janelle & her entourage!

Fresh & Hot out of the Oven …

For one of my Photoshop assignments, I had to shoot in a kitchen.  And since my kitchen is not that fun, I decided to venture out and find one to shoot in.  There’s a new bakery in the area, OCB Cakes, and the Lovely Owners {Joanna & Scott} graciously allowed me to come take pictures one morning.

Scott was making Sticky Buns.  Yummy, gooey, tasty sticky buns.  The perk of doing this photo shoot?  I got to taste a FRESH one.  You’ll notice that there are no pics of me eating my Fresh Sticky Bun.  That’s because I basically inhaled it.  Really, it was THAT good.  There was no time to pose for a picture.  If you’re ever in Lancaster County, specifically in Strasburg, you must visit them.  Seriously.  You will not regret it.

Since it was for a Photoshop class, you’ll see some of the edits I did.  Out of all the pics, the b&w half view of the faucet is my favorite.  What’s yours and why?

I wish I could smell them coming out of the oven! Maybe you could add that dimension to your photos ;)
